The Importance of English

English is an international Language .There are many Languages in the world where English is the foremost of them all. It is understood and spoken almost everywhere in the world .English has becomes the key instrument of globalisation .What is the paramount today is knowing how to use the English language rather than just knowing it. English is the only language that the German .the Chinese ,the Japanese and Russians are keen to learn although their mother languages are developed as English. Now almost all the universities are conducting scientific studies through English medium . The English language is used all over the global for transaction of international trade.To all in Sri Lanka too a good knowledge of English is essential for the advancement of knowledge and to further our studies .It is almost indispensable for higher scientific and technological studies . The competence in English has become so important that gagainful employment is available only to those who have a mastery of the EEnglish Language. It is tragic to see how school leavers from rural schools are displaced by urban cchildren due to competence in English of the letter.Today in Sri Lanka the role of English is enormous .

The History of Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is one of oldest settlement in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is also the capital of Sri Lanka.It was used as the capital around 500BC. Anuradhapura was the capital of Sri Lanka for about 1500 years.The city bega as an ancient village.It is said that anuradhagama was built by Anuradha,a brother qeen Bhaddakachchayana. After king Pandukabhaya made Anuradhapura the capital. The old city of Anuradhapura had 3zones nnamely Ethulunuwara,Pitinuwara and poojanuwara.
