Our Country ❤

Sri lanka or Ceylon as knon earlier isan island in the Indian Ocean.It is famous for its climate,beautiful beaches,attractive hills and for its ancient culture. Sri Lanka is famous throughout the world for tea. So are gems,rubber ,coconut ,cocoa and garments.
Colombo is an important sea port in the Indian Ocean.It is the never center of all cargo and ports activities .The natural harbour at Trincomalee in the East adds charm to our island. We are recially a mixed group consisting of Sihhalese, Tamil ,Muslims ,and Burghers.Our country is a home for many rereligious like Buddhism ,Hinduism, Islam amd Christianity. Our main languages ate SSinhala and Tamil but English is common to all. Our rural peoples are simple and charming .They are ver religious minded . The sinhalese New year, The Vesak,The Deepavali, The Ramazan and The Hadji are some of our important cellebration. Sri Lanka is a developing country and is rapidly advancing in every aspect .In the third world Sri Lanka is a model of hehealthy and progressive country .

The History of Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is one of oldest settlement in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is also the capital of Sri Lanka.It was used as the capital around 500BC. Anuradhapura was the capital of Sri Lanka for about 1500 years.The city bega as an ancient village.It is said that anuradhagama was built by Anuradha,a brother qeen Bhaddakachchayana. After king Pandukabhaya made Anuradhapura the capital. The old city of Anuradhapura had 3zones nnamely Ethulunuwara,Pitinuwara and poojanuwara. There is evidence that this ancient city of Anuradhapura was visited by Greek, Roman and Chinese tourists. Anuradhapura was ruled by 90 kings and some of the most famous kings. They are Pandukabhaya, Devanampiyatissa,Dutugamunu,Walagamba,Dhathusena,Mahasen.
